Are Your Managers an Asset?

good manager is a great asset to both an organization and its employees. Not only are they able to manage their team well, but they also possess some strong leadership skills that can have a positive effect on those around them.

It’s difficult sometimes for people to know the signs of a good manager and how to easily spot them. Employees seek to work with an individual that can show empathy and help them grow career-wise. So, it’s a very important topic to discuss.


To move forward with your business, you have to employ the right managers. Good managers are important to every organization. They are a critical sign of a good working environment. So how can you easily tell the good ones from the bad ones? Here are some of the signs of a good manager:

    1. They are good listeners. A good manager is a good listener and enjoys giving attention to others. They are able to listen more than they speak. This could include giving room to those they supervise to share their ideas. They welcome such creativity and are always willing to learn from others. They try to listen always to know others better so they can build a stronger connection with them.
    1. They are empathetic. One of the signs of a good manager is their possession of empathetic skills. They are able to fit themselves into the feelings of others and try to understand them. You might find them asking questions even on your worst days just to help you resolve your problems.
    1. They seek the good of others. A good working environment can be achieved when the right things are done. A good manager isn’t only concerned about their own glory; rather, they seek the best in others. They are actively organizing growth strategies to help their team members advance in their careers. They’ll work to ensure that their team is utilizing their skills to the maximum.
    1. They serve as good examples. Observe their management style. A great manager isn’t two-faced and therefore practices what he or she preaches. You can’t find them saying one thing today and doing another tomorrow. They serve as good examples for the people they manage.
    1. They are willing to ask for help. One sign that you have a good manager is their ability to delegate. The idea many managers have in their heads is that they have to take responsibility for all the tasks. They would rather do it all on their own than ask for help. Great managers understand that they can’t always do it alone and need to carry their team along. They delegate their tasks and also give room for others to show their leadership skills by giving them the responsibility to handle certain projects on their own.
    1. They are not micromanagers. Great managers practice autonomy and understand that people should be given the chance to do things on their own for them to grow.
    1. They admit their mistakes. The final sign of a good manager on is their willingness to admit their wrongdoings and accept corrections. They understand that they are humans and are not above making mistakes instead of blaming others.
