Why Human Experience Management is the Future of HR

Human Experience ManagementHuman Experience Management (HXM) is on the rise. We are all in this big experiment of remote work, return to work, and being an essential worksite.  Employees expect and need more than pay and benefits. They want experiences.  Their experience involves the technology they use, company culture, agility, and employee development and growth opportunities.

Today’s workforce is trying to adapt to all the challenges in their work and personal world.  HXM organizations support their workforce with empathy.  They encourage different points of view, 360 feedback, and take action to improve their culture. These are characteristics that all employees seek in an organization - and not just during a pandemic.

A recent study found that in two years, over 54% of all employees will require significant reskilling and upskilling.  Training is a valuable tool that all companies must instill in their culture to be productive and plan for growth.  An HXM environment promotes learning and will help organizations not only recruit top talent but retain talent that they have worked hard to develop. If you have a team of excellent performers now is the time to train them for the jobs you will have in the future.

Agility is critical in the workplace.  In recent ASE Member Roundtables, members have commented on how they’ve had to redeploy their workforce to meet their organization’s demands since March. Being versatile and able to adapt is the only way to stay resilient as we navigate this pandemic.

Company culture is made up of values which are shared beliefs.  Culture doesn’t just happen; it needs to be nurtured to create an environment that is happy, inclusive, and innovated.  It is providing tools, resources, and listening to your workforce to understand gaps and being willing to improve.

Human experience management – is it just the latest HR buzz word?  No, it is an understanding that employee experience will keep your organization competitive in uncertain times. It is creating experiences that allow candidates, new hires, recruiters, employees, managers, and HR leaders to do things quickly and easily so they can be more productive – from recruitment to retirement.

It means helping employees take advantage of AI, learning development resources, guidance, and actions that allow employees to do their best work and stay at your organization.  Welcome to the age of human experience management.
