Think outside the box.  Employers can create their own initiatives that mirror these types of programs.

  • Help those in your community to get GED’s vs. not hiring because they don’t have a high school education.
  • Check out apprenticeship programs and grants through Michigan Works
  • Hire great entry level employees and provide employee development paths.
  • Create a mentor program or shadow program.  Allow employees the chance to see what other departments do and get a glimpse at other job opportunities within your organization.

Train the employees you have today for the jobs your company will have in the future.  Reskill, upskill, whatever you call it – training and development is the key to your company’s war on talent.
