2021 Michigan HR Executives of the Year

As Michigan's trusted HR partner, ASE is in an ideal  position to help identify the best in the human resources profession. This past year was extremely challenging for HR professionals and we are happy to recognize them for their hard work and achievements over the course of their career as well as during the pandemic.

Each nomination is evaluated based on the nominee's commitment to the HR profession, successes in his or her past as well as current positions, contributions to the community, impact on the lives of others, and the success of his or her organization.




2021 Honorees

Jenifer Zbiegien
Vice President Human Resources and Marketing
Aludyne, Inc.

Jenifer is the Vice President of Human Resources, Marketing & Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) of Aludyne, a position she has held since March of 2019. In this role, Jenifer is responsible for driving talent strategy, leading culture change and championing the corporate brand and safety culture. She holds over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, having spent time at ZF, TRW and most recently, with American Axle & Manufacturing as the Director of Global Human Resources for the Driveline Division. Throughout her career she has helped shape collaborative organizational structures and build an engaged workforce to maximize business performance. Jenifer holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Labor and Human Resources, both from The Ohio State University.

Justin Walworth
Chief Human Resources Officer
Peckham, Inc.

Justin Walworth is the Chief Human Resource Officer at Peckham Inc., a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization that provides job training for persons with significant disabilities and other barriers to employment. Justin began his career in HR in 2004 leading Peckham’s Wellness, Safety & Workers Compensation initiatives.  He has filled many other roles from Generalist, Manager, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations to his current role in HR where he works with a variety of departments and teams through difficult situations to find solutions that benefit both the people and the organization. 

During Justin’s tenure at Peckham, he has earned his master’s degree in HR, facilitates iThrive - Peckham’s Leadership development initiatives for emerging leaders, and is a graduate of the LEAD institute with the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. He has helped promote a positive culture and win multiple awards including the Great Place to Work Best Workplaces since 2015, When Work Works (previously Sloan Award for Workplace flexibility) each year since 2008, and Best and Brightest Elite Winner for three consecutive years just to name a few. Justin is a frequent presenter on leadership and generational differences in the workplace and has presented at different national conferences.

Deanna Cain
Head of Human Resources
RPT Realty

Deanna Cain joined RPT Realty in 2009 and currently serves as Head of Human Resources. In this position, she oversees HR, Office Services, and Corporate Communications with a particular focus on identifying, attracting, and retaining high end talent, advancing core business principles and objectives, and enhancing workplace engagement and collaboration. Ms. Cain received an M.A. from Wayne State University and a B.A. from Michigan State University.

Chantale Stevenson
Director of Human Resources
Archdiocese of Detroit

Chantale Stevenson has been Director of Human Resources for the Archdiocese of Detroit  for the past five years. In the role of Director of Human Resources, Mrs. Stevenson oversees all aspects of the Human Resource Department, including talent acquisition, employment records, benefits support, personnel policies, and compliance with safe environments practices. She supports employees in her office as well as employees who work in the parishes and schools throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. A certified professional in human resources (PHR), Mrs. Stevenson holds a Master’s Degree in Dispute Resolution and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree both from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Stevenson was a regular volunteer at the Crossroads Soup Kitchen in Detroit.  She also regularly assisted women seeking to enter the workplace by training them on how to improve their interview and resume writing skills, how to function as a part of a team, and provided them with strategies for coping successfully in a high stress corporate environment.
