Farewell to Gary Lovio, ASE CFO

ASE’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Gary Lovio, is retiring this Friday, June 2nd.  Gary has been with ASE for 12 years and has made many great contributions while here.

Gary started at ASE on May 9, 2005, as the Controller and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer on March 16, 2014.

Gary helped ASE manage financially during the Great Recession. It wasn’t easy back then, but Gary helped this organization through some rough times. We have grown by over $2M since Gary arrived at ASE 12 years ago. He is a tireless professional and balances formality and friendliness. He has coached others in the organization. Gary is known by our staff as being honest and ethical; he treats people equally despite their differences.

Gary was also well appreciated by our auditors.  Year after year our audits have come back with no significant adjustments needed.  This is virtually unheard of, and it’s attributed to Gary’s special attention to detail.

On behalf of the staff and myself personally, we will all miss Gary.

Gary recently shared some thoughts with the ASE staff about his impending retirement and his time here at ASE.   He stated, “Sometimes it's surreal…a 40-year career and 12 years at ASE is coming to an end this week.  I was trying to think of one word to describe the staff at ASE, and it’s resilient. The staff at ASE has been thru many ups and downs over the last 12 years, but their mental strength and resilience have always been a constant. That attitude of resilience is why ASE has survived and prospered for 115 years.  Much of the success I have enjoyed at ASE is due to the tireless efforts of this staff and for that I am eternally grateful."

Gary’s replacement, Tracy Neil, CPA, MBA, MST, has been transitioning under Gary for the last month.  Tracy has a wealth of experience and comes to us from Burroughs, an ASE member company where he has spent the last six years. Prior to that Tracy was with McKesson Pharmacy System for 15 years. Tracy has his undergrad in management from St. Mary’s College, his MBA in Finance from Walsh College, and a Masters in Tax from Golden Gate University.  Tracy also holds a CPA designation.  We are pleased to have him on board.
