How HR Can Thrive in 2022

THRIVE meterMany HR professionals tend to do or manage everything within the employee lifecycle at their organization.  It’s time to reboot and not just survive – but THRIVE  in 2022.

Let’s start with building a network of your peers.  It is always nice to have a sounding board with whom you can discuss issues with or brainstorm solutions.  ASE will be offering several new member programs in 2022 including, Circle of Peers – Professional Networking Hubs.  These will replace our roundtables and forums.  Each individually curated hub will focus on specific industry professionals.  Currently, members can choose from staffing, training and development, HR professionals, Japanese-owned businesses, total rewards, and a new CFO hub. These hubs are designed to be an information exchange designed to energize, inform, and empower our members.

Leverage your team and ask managers and leadership to support HR goals and policies.

  • Let managers take the lead on performance reviews and certain administrative tasks.
  • Ask the accounting team to help with payroll and benefits administration.
  • Outsource professional development.  ASE Course Catalog Link
  •  Automate or outsource where possible.

Don’t forget about yourself. HR is a demanding role.  You are constantly tending to the needs of everyone else.  This can lead to burnout.  What can you do in 2022 to keep your sanity?

  • Go easy on yourself – You are doing amazing things. Recognize that with daily gratitude.
  • Don’t get distracted – Take time each day to list your priorities.
  • Celebrate – Congratulate yourself and your team on the victories and accomplishments.
  • Hire nice people – Surround yourself with people who will support the team and positive mental energy.
  • Reorganize – A cluttered workspace can deplete your energy.  Straighten up your desk and desktop for a fresh start.
  • R & R – Try and get a good night’s sleep and build in restorative breaks into your workday.
  • Hydrate – Before you grab that cup of coffee rehydrate yourself with water.  Drinking water throughout the day can help eliminate brain fog and exhaustion.
  • Practice mindfulness – Take time to learn some breathing techniques or short meditations.
