The Governor’s office has formed a diverse group of leaders, including business, to work with and assist with its COVID vaccination campaign. As vaccination ramps up in Michigan, employers will benefit from inoculated healthy and safe workers. However, it is recognized that education is needed about how and when workers can line up for the COVID-19 vaccination.

The Protect Michigan Commission was formed pursuant to EO 2020-193 and is charged with developing outreach strategies to provide education materials for communities and employers to use in promoting and communicating the vaccination process and help quell fears about receiving the vaccine.

Recognizing that employers will be key to getting people inoculated, ASE has joined the Commission to assist its efforts to get Michigan safely back to work.

Employers are invited to go to the Communications Toolkit at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MHDDS) site here. The toolkit has graphics, videos, posters, and handouts that employers can use to get the word out (multilingual resources) to workers and their families about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine and when and how to receive the inoculation.

ASE looks forward to working with the Commission on resource development and has put a link to the Protect Michigan Commission resource page on its COVID-19 Employer Resources webpage for Michigan employers to keep updated on when and how their employees can access the vaccination.

The Commission is looking for voluntary locations where the health department can set up community vaccination sites, mobile units that can help deploy vaccine, or other donated resources.

The Commission is also looking for employees that might volunteer to participate in inoculation advocacy as well as employer programs that support employee vaccinations such as paid time off to get a vaccine or other encouragement programs.  Register at MI Volunteer Registry.
