Objective: This program will provide HR personnel and line managers with a detailed understanding about the "exemptions" under the wage and hour law and how to audit whether positions qualify for an "exemption" or are "non-exempt." The course will include inter-active segments in which the instructors and the audience will review actual job descriptions.

What does it mean to be an "exempt" employee What are the various "exemptions" What are the "job duties" tests for each "exemption" (executive, administrative, professional, outside sales, and computer professional) What is the "salary basis" test for the "exemptions." Whether an "exempt" employee can be paid overtime pay in addition to the regular salary How "exempt" status can be lost as a result of improper salary deductions What is the "salary level" test What is the special exemption for "highly compensated" employees How to determine whether a jos is "exempt" or non-exempt"
