On Wednesday, January 26th the Indiana House of Representatives passed its version of a “Right-to-Work” bill, which would give its workers the right to choose to be in a union and pay dues, or to refrain from joining the union and paying dues. The Indiana Senate had already passed a virtually identical version of the bill. The two will be reconciled and then a final version will go to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, who is expected to sign it next week. Right-to-Work, regardless of one’s position on it, is a deeply political issue involving union power; since Michigan is a neighboring state that issue will now flow north to Lansing.

Demographically, you are probably either a younger Baby Boomer or an older Gen X’er. You could be either male or female, but if you are female you may see yourself as a member of the “Sandwich Generation” a little more readily than your male colleagues do.
